'BALANCE' Is Abused By Most Ski Instructors

Too many ski instructors brag about how difficult it is to Balance on skis. In reality, with heavy skis and high-stiff boots, you hardly need great balance--it takes more balance to stand in your street shoes. And poles help Balance--only rarely should they be confiscated in the name of teaching "Balance." Taking every beginner's poles away is a form of ignorance and abuse. Beginner's need to know how easy Balance can be, not how hard it can be.

FIRST POST

Ski Students & prospective Ski Instructors,
There are a lot of smoke and mirrors going on in the ski industry that you should know about, especially in Ski Schools.
First, Professional Ski Instructors of America is basically a pyramid scheme living off the high turnover on new instructors, under the guise of "certifying" them. They basically "certify" anyone and everyone at the introductory Level-I, only to fail them at the Level-II and Level-III.
Then, most beginner ski lessons are taught by inexperienced new instructors or weekenders who get sucked in to this difficult chore--they don't have the skills or experience to do it well, and they don't know or won't admit that they aren't qualified. The gods at the top of PSIA are just glad they themselves aren't skiing with the beginners or lower-level skiers. And they don't mind if the general public gets bad lessons, because this doesn't affect the gods position at the top--in fact, the worse the ski lessons are down below, the more magnificent the PSIA gods look at the top.
And, finally, SnowBoarding probably never should have happened. But a few factors helped SnowBoarding reach a tipping-point by about 1990. First, the ski rental-shop workers noticed that, if they steer the newcomers toward a snowboard instead of a pair of skis, the shop would not have to deal with ski poles or binding settings. Then, the PSIA Instructors who were running into brick walls for Level-II or III certification--they saw a ground-floor opportunity to become the gods of the SnowBoard Instructors, AASI, even if they did not love SnowBoarding.
That's it for now. But I need your real life set-backs cause by PSIA Politics. And you need to buy my SWINGIN' G BOOKS so that you can avoid the nonsense and reach your full potential.
